FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem Meets Montenegrin Prime Minister to Boost Motorsport and Road Safety

Dubai, UAE: In a bid to strengthen cooperation between the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Montenegro, FIA President H.E Mohammed Ben Sulayem met with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. The meeting, which took place in Tivat, provided an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss areas of collaboration aligned with Montenegro’s national priorities, with a focus on motorsport, tourism, and road safety.

The discussion touched on how the continued growth of Montenegro’s motorsport can help boost the economy, bring more visitors to the country, and raise its international profile, while ensuring events are run safely and sustainably. This is a crucial aspect, as motorsport has the potential to contribute significantly to Montenegro’s economic development, creating jobs and revenue for local communities. Moreover, the growth of motorsport in Montenegro can also help to promote the country as a tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world and showcasing its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.

Another key focus of the meeting was Montenegro’s ambition to become a regional leader in road safety. President Mohammed Ben Sulayem shared how the FIA helps countries use data to better understand accidents, improve roads, and make driving safer. This includes global tools like the FIA Road Safety Index (RSI), which helps track and measure progress using cutting-edge AI. Both leaders agreed that using data and new technology is essential to making real improvements for everyday road users, and that collaboration between governments, international organizations, and local communities is crucial to achieving this goal.

The FIA President also highlighted the importance of keeping people safe online through the FIA’s United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) campaign. This campaign aims to promote respect and protect users, especially young people and those involved in sport, from online abuse. The Prime Minister and President emphasized the need for collective action to address this issue, and to create a safe and respectful online environment for all.

H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, said: "Montenegro is a country with clear ambition to lead in road safety. We are delighted to work with them to help bring that ambition to life by combining innovation, data, and collaboration. Together with the Auto-moto Association of Montenegro, we will work to deliver safer roads, more efficient mobility systems, and continued growth in motorsport, helping to build a future that is safer, more sustainable, and more connected for all."

The FIA President has been in Montenegro to attend the FIA Region I Spring Meeting hosted in Budva by the Auto-moto Association of Montenegro. This meeting brought together 102 FIA Member Clubs, providing a platform for discussion and collaboration on key issues related to motorsport and mobility. The meeting also provided an opportunity for the FIA to share its expertise and knowledge with member clubs, and to promote the development of motorsport and road safety in the region.

In conclusion, the meeting between FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić marked an important step forward in the cooperation between the FIA and Montenegro. The two leaders demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting motorsport, road safety, and online safety, and to working together to achieve these goals.
