The wait is over for running enthusiasts in the Maldives and beyond as Dhiraagu has officially opened registration for the highly anticipated Maldives Road Race 2026, scheduled to take place on November 20th at Hulhumalé Central Park. This year's event promises to be more exciting than ever, with the introduction of four new team categories for corporate teams, resorts, running clubs, and colleges and universities.

At a press conference held at the Dhiraagu Head Office, senior officials from Dhiraagu and key event partners, including the Athletics Association of Maldives, Maldives Police Service, and Housing Development Corporation (HDC), announced the opening of registrations. The event is set to attract a diverse range of participants, from seasoned athletes to casual runners, all coming together to promote health, fitness, and community engagement.

The Maldives Road Race has a rich history, being the country's first international run and listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar. Its race route is also certified by World Athletics, ensuring a high level of competition and adherence to international standards. This year, participants can register for the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Open, and the new team categories through the DMRR registration platform. The event will offer a total of MVR 296,000 in cash prizes across all race categories, making it an exciting opportunity for runners to test their skills and compete against others. The event will continue to focus on child protection, a key area of Dhiraagu's social responsibility program, providing a platform for NGOs to advocate for children's rights and raise funds for their initiatives.

Dhiraagu will donate MVR 200,000 to the five endorsed NGOs receiving the highest number of participant nominations during registration. Additionally, the company will donate MVR 100 from every participant registration, alongside proceeds from special bib number sales, to be distributed equally among the endorsed partner NGOs. This philanthropic effort is a testament to the event's commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of children in the Maldives.
