Mallards Extend Streak with Thrilling 6-4 Victory Over Rafters

The Madison Mallards have once again demonstrated their prowess in the Northwoods League, securing a hard-fought 6-4 win over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at Warner Park. This victory marks the Mallards' 16th consecutive win over the Rafters, solidifying their dominance in the league.

The game began with the Mallards taking an early lead in the first inning, as a wild pitch allowed Preston Yaucher to score, putting Madison ahead 1-0. However, the Rafters were quick to respond, tying the game in the second inning. The Mallards regained their composure and took the lead once more, courtesy of Dom Jacoby's RBI infield single, making it 2-1.

As the game progressed, the Mallards continued to build on their lead. In the fourth inning, Cole Crafton's RBI double and Terek Verhage's run-scoring single stretched Madison's advantage to 4-1. The Mallards further extended their lead in the fifth inning, with Aiden Arnett's sacrifice fly to center, making it 5-1.

Ckyler Tengler, a Northwoods League All-Star, put on a dominant display on the mound, working three innings while allowing just one unearned run and striking out three. The Mallards' offense continued to thrive, with Yaucher hitting a solo shot in the seventh inning, giving Madison a comfortable 6-2 lead.

Despite the Mallards' strong performance, the Rafters refused to back down, mounting a late rally in the eighth inning. They managed to score twice, bringing the tying run to the plate, but Eli Hoyt's exceptional pitching closed the door. Hoyt earned his seventh save of the season, securing the Mallards' win.

The Mallards' victory improves their record to 26-12, and they will look to continue their winning streak as they head to Wausau to face the Woodchucks on Saturday. The team will then return to Warner Park on Sunday for a rematch against the Rafters.
