HMD Unveils Arc 2: Elevating Entry-Level Smartphones with Unisoc T603 Chipset and 5,000mAh Battery

HMD, the home of Nokia phones, has recently launched its latest entry-level smartphone, the HMD Arc 2, in Thailand. This new model succeeds the original HMD Arc, which debuted in 2024, and introduces several upgrades while retaining the essence of its predecessor. The HMD Arc 2 is designed to target the budget segment, offering Android 14 Go Edition, a 5,000mAh battery, and a single rear camera.

The key upgrade in the HMD Arc 2 is the Unisoc T603 chipset, replacing the older Unisoc SC9863A. This new chipset is built on a 12nm process with clock speeds of up to 1.8GHz, promising enhanced performance and efficiency. The smartphone will be available in two variants: 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB, priced at THB 2,290 (approximately Rs. 6,500) and THB 2,990 (approximately Rs. 8,600), respectively.

The HMD Arc 2 features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, providing a decent viewing experience. The device is powered by the Unisoc T603 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks. The storage options include 64GB and 128GB variants, with support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card. The HMD Arc 2 runs on Android 14 Go Edition out of the box, offering a streamlined and efficient operating system.

In terms of camera capabilities, the HMD Arc 2 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, housed in a water drop-style notch. While the camera specs may not be groundbreaking, they should suffice for casual photography. The device also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port for connectivity, along with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging.

The HMD Arc 2 is expected to go on sale in Thailand from July 20, with no official announcement on its availability in other markets. The device will be available in Dark Blue and Golden Beige color options. Although the HMD Arc 2 may not boast high-end features, it is designed to cater to the needs of budget-conscious consumers who prioritize essentials like battery life, performance, and affordability.
