Emirates Global Aluminium Restarts Operations at Al Taweelah Site After Iranian Attack

89 reduction cells at Al Taweelah have been restarted, marking significant progress in the restoration of the aluminium production complex.

The site was damaged on March 28 after Iranian attacks on Khalifa Economic Zone Abu Dhabi, resulting in an emergency shutdown and two employee hospitalizations.

Repairs to damaged infrastructure are underway, with basic utilities restored across the site and natural gas and electricity availability expected to increase in line with the restart program.

The recovery of hot metal production is expected to take up to a year to return to pre-incident levels, with the company exploring opportunities to accelerate the timeline.

EGA's Jebel Ali site continues to produce aluminium at full capacity, providing a stable operating base while Al Taweelah is restored.
