St. Johns County Poised to Regulate Food Truck Parks with New Ordinance

The proposed ordinance would permit food truck parks in Highway Commercial, High Intensity Commercial, and Rural Commercial zoning districts. Individual food trucks would also be allowed as a temporary use in additional districts, including Commercial Intensive and Commercial Warehouse, for up to three days. This provision is expected to provide food truck operators with greater flexibility and opportunities to reach a wider audience.

The regulations would also impose restrictions on operating hours, minimum setback distances from residences, and other aspects of food truck park operations. For instance, food truck parks would be required to maintain a minimum distance of 500 feet from any residential area, ensuring that the noise and activity generated by these establishments do not disturb nearby residents.
